End of Homeschool Year Giveaway (Closed)

by Cindy on May 4, 2012

Congratulations to our winner, Karen W!

We just finished up our required 180 days this week! I haven’t actually quit schooling anybody, since there’s still plenty to do, but it’s getting close to the end of the official school year for most of us. We’ll take a few weeks when the baby comes, I suppose, and call that our summer. I’m really looking forward to planning the next year.  Are you? Or maybe you’re just tired from this one. How about a giveaway to make it all better?

Adventurez In Child’rearing, Gricefully Homeschooling, Kathys Cluttered Mind, Lady of the Barn, Our Good Life and I have all pitched in some of our favorite books and resources to give away to one lucky reader from one of our blogs! My contributions are marked with an asterisk and are used, but quite readable.:

And of course, you’re going to need a little money to buy school books for the next year, right? So here ya go:$25 Amazon Gift Card

How to enter: Complete as many of the entry options as you like! There are 20 possible entries, and they’re all easy, so grab ‘em!

This is a Rafflecopter giveaway, so you’ll need to click through to the post to enter if you’re reading by RSS or email. Just be sure to confirm your subscriptions and all that stuff so you won’t be disqualified if your name is drawn!

(By the way, if you’re entering this giveaway and you’re not a homeschooler or at least a mommy (or the husband of a mommy!), we can’t legally not give you the prize should you win. But it wouldn’t be very nice of you to take our stuff if you don’t need it just to get the money.)

Good luck!

We haven’t started HS yet- but we’re going to our first conference (ICHE) next month!

Katie H May 4, 2012 at 3:54 pm

Wow! what a great package. I think I’ll put them all on my wishlist. Thanks! Love your blog. gives me hope that I can be patient and cheerful through the young child phase and into our HS adventure that starts next year.

Shawna May 4, 2012 at 4:18 pm

We have 23 more days of reading left and about the same of math. We are just finishing up our first year of kindergarten so I don’t actually have to keep track yet, but I learned that I need to be better next year about saying no to things so that we get our time in! I already have my book list made out to take to the CHAP conference with me next week and then finish on Amazon!

Lisa Joy May 4, 2012 at 11:11 pm

We are going to focus on science and history this summer. (We have gotten behind on those, and it will be fun to be able to have concentrated time to do exploring and experiments!)

Mary Jo May 4, 2012 at 11:16 pm

Because the weather gets so hot down here, we actually prefer to school through the summer and take extended breaks in the Spring and Fall. But I’m already starting to plan next year’s curriculum.

We’ll be camping and taking a road trip to visit family. We’ll spend the rest of our time at home- or at our family’s camp on the lake. I’ve already promised we can spend every hot day of the summer there! I’m looking forward to it!

Danielle May 4, 2012 at 11:58 pm

Would LOVE this prize! A few of the books were on my wishlist!

This is only our second year of homeschooling. Last year we ended at the end of May because I wasn’t going to dare school in June – who does that??

After a serious change of heart, I’ve decided we’re going to try going through the summer year-round style. We’re only going to do 2, maybe 3 days each week. We’ll see if I live to tell the tale.

Congrats on the end of your year! Now you can rest until that new little one arrives. ;)

We do year round but take Fridays off for field trips and other fun stuff :D

Elizabeth Cowen May 5, 2012 at 7:42 pm

I will be homeschooling a high schooler for the first time next year so a lot of my summer will be spent planning.

Jessica May 5, 2012 at 8:03 pm

we plan to relax over the summer and hopefully see some family in iowa and illinois! it’s our first year homeschooling so it’s been quite the year, plus we added a new little one to our family…so we are looking forward to putting the SCHOOL books away and just focusing on character building, loving each other and Jesus and having fun!

We aren’t even close to being done. Baby was born in February, and we had a few unexpected challenges with him, that required us to take off more time than I had originally planned for. Oh well. I rather like the idea of going through the summer…I like the structure and routine. And, thankfully, my daughter loves school time! :)

Sharon Fuller May 7, 2012 at 9:40 am

Over summer break, I plan to plan for next year. Get my house cleaned up and maybe put it on the market. We will do fun stuff like library reading programs, and go to the zoo (we have a membership). We only have this week of school left!!! Yippee. Since I order most of our school books from Amazon using swagbucks gift cards, this would help a lot, too.
I love your warning! You rock!

amy bowen May 7, 2012 at 9:47 am

During the summer we love visiting zoos and parks and the beach :)

This is a great giveaway, thank you!

Lisa May 7, 2012 at 9:52 am

I think just relaxing and real “summer” stuff–picnics, Popsicle, park days, fires and s’mores. Good memories.

We need to keep on keeping on with school as we continue to redeem the year, but we will take some short trips to refresh and recharge.

Nicky May 7, 2012 at 9:58 am

This was the first year we had our older boys home. Withdrawals from public school have made our lives miserable. So,we get to school through summer. HA! Serves them right, for being rotten. Thank you for the drawing!

Jennifer Thompson May 7, 2012 at 10:02 am

This is our second year of hs. We are mostly finished. I have to admit, we never stop learning, but I like taking May through July off to concentrate on swimming, gardening, and enjoying the weather. We have been restarting bookwork in August. We love doing this.

Jennifer Moore May 7, 2012 at 10:30 am

We are taking the month of July to head to the mountains with the camper. My oldest will be at Camp Ridgecrest for two weeks and then we’ll head to VA to spend time with dad on location there. Yay Summer!

Becky Milstead May 7, 2012 at 10:33 am

We have less than 20 days left of school & then we’re taking the month of June off. We’re going to start our month of June fun by going to my parent’s house for a week. The boys are looking forward to lots of pool & beach time! :-)

Tina May 7, 2012 at 10:34 am

We will be trying to travel in the summer from the Bahamas. We are hoping to visit the wooden boat show in Connecticut and also go to Canada. We school until the end of June then start again end of August. I am going to try using Sonlight next year and we are excited.

No definite plans over summer just yet. We’ll still be schooling. We might take a trip up to VA to see my parents. We’ve mulled over the idea of heading towards the coast. *shrug* We’ll see what happens! :)

We’ll actually be STARTING our homeschool year in June or July! It will be our first year so I hope to Homeschool year round so we can take longer breaks throughout the year. We’re headed to the beach in July and it can’t come soon enough!

Jen May 7, 2012 at 11:13 am

What a great giveaway! We’ve got baseball (travel for twins and little league for our youngest) through June and we always end up camping and fishing. We found a new favorite camping / fishing spot last year and I have a feeling we’ll be spending lots of time at the lake. We took an early vacation this year, so not quite sure what we’ll do in the way of travel.

Lisa May 7, 2012 at 11:22 am

We’re going to be schooling all summer this year (it’s our first attempt at year round school) and we are excited about it! Thanks for the chance to win some great books (and cash too!) it’s super nice of you all:)

Jessica Wilhite May 7, 2012 at 11:34 am

We plan to home school a little during the summer, but we do have a fun field trip planned to Monterey Bay Aquarium and the beach. I can’t wait!

Amie Logan May 7, 2012 at 2:04 pm

We school year round, so I enjoy incorporating new things as we finish the old or as we’d like. We’re starting some Spanish next week as part of a new thing, but I’d also like to do at least 3 field trips, and we’ll be taking off here and there to visit relatives and go to family camp.

Sarah May 7, 2012 at 2:38 pm

We’ve only just started our homeschooling journey so having fun is definitely on the agenda – also something to do with olympics as they are in our country.

Andrea Padgett May 7, 2012 at 5:29 pm

We take a few weeks for a break. We will have VBS, relax a little, and get organizing/planning done for next year.

Candace @ Sacred Mommyhood May 7, 2012 at 7:39 pm

We officially finish school in a few weeks….and do typically schedule a summer break. But inevitably, we end up schooling through the summer. It’s just best to keep the kids busy, and I love getting a head start on the following year!

Machell Duke May 7, 2012 at 8:46 pm

I don’t homeschool year round but have decided to do at least do something learning a day. I realize they are learning all the time….but don’t want tv and games on all day.

silvia May 7, 2012 at 10:13 pm

Wonderful package. Very generous of all of you.

Stacy May 8, 2012 at 12:32 am

I will begin homeschooling my daughter with K4-K this coming year and I’m going to be using the Classical Conversations program, but other than that I’m pretty fresh to this all, so this giveaway would be a dream to win! I would love to have all of those books & resources to glean from! Hope I win! Thanks so much! :-)

Stacy May 8, 2012 at 12:33 am

So…To answer the question…I will be using this summer to be getting myself prepared & everything organized! :-) Thanks!

Rachel May 8, 2012 at 12:18 pm

Lots of camping, and just having fun with my family this summer!
