Back in January, I committed to reading the Bible in 90 days along with Mom’s Toolbox. I finished up just in time, and commemorated the accomplishment with a pretty little necklace stamped with the date I finished reading the Bible from cover to cover for the very first time–even the “boring” stuff, like the genealogies and the measurements of Solomon’s temple. I didn’t only get the necklace to remind me that I’d finished, though. I got it to remind me to do it again, often!
Starting a few days ago, Mom’s Toolbox started over, leading 489 of us in reading the Bible in 90 days. Most participants are doing this for the first time, but a few of us are doing it for the second time or more. I’m doing it again on a spur-of-the-moment whim. I saw @MomsToolbox tweet about doing it all over again, and I couldn’t resist! I love the intensity of it, and can’t imagine that God really meant for us to read His word any other way. Studying bits and pieces is good, and necessary, but there is a Story here, and we often miss it by taking things by chapter and verse.
I know I’m a slacker to wait this long to post about it, but if anyone wants to join in, there’s still enough time to get caught up. Just add a couple of extra pages to your reading until you’re on schedule! (Or, if you’re like me, you don’t care much whether you’re on the same page as the rest, so long as you get where you’re going. Go ahead and finish 4 days behind the rest. Or 20. Just do it!) I’m able to get several days ahead by adding a few pages at a time to the set schedule, which will be a blessing when baby comes in August and I can’t concentrate enough to read more than a page at a time. Hopefully, Baby Benjamin won’t completely derail this effort!
If you don’t want to shell out for an actual Bible in 90 Days Bible (which is really just a Bible without notes and distractions), just get out your own Bible and use this schedule provided by Mom’s Toolbox. Try to ignore the footnotes and study guides, and just slog on through! I’m using the Kindle version, and it’s a great way to go, if you care to try it. Won’t you join us?

Now why didn’t I think of the Kindle version?!? LOL I went to Lifeway store and got my book, but a Kindle would’ve been so much easier to keep up… oh well. (I follow you on twitter aunt_nette)
I’m reading it now too! There’s a discount Christian book store at the outlet mall in Blowing Rock where they have the book for $12 – I just started and I’m excited!
Are you doing it along with Mom’s Toolbox? They have a “tweet-up” every Monday for discussion and encouragement. It’s lots of fun. Not always as sedate as you’d expect dozens of Christian women talking about the Bible to be, either. LOL
