Where Are We Going?

The “we” in question being me, your humble host here at Get Along Home, and you, my hapless readers. Since there are a few more of you than there used to be, I figure I ought to let you know which way the wind is blowing. Get Along Home has been a little bit different the last few weeks. I’ve done more reviews/giveaways and fewer link round-ups of my favorite giveaways. I’ve also increased my posting frequency a little bit. Like everything I do, this is probably temporary.

I’ve been doing a few giveaways lately, and I think it’s lots of fun, so I hope my readers who don’t care for giveaways don’t mind too much! I plan to keep doing them, provided I can get more lovely people to drop by and ask me to sample their wares. I’m not pitching my blog to any PR types, nor am I signing up with a lot of networks, though I have signed up with a few who have low commitment requirements. Maybe someday I’ll just throw myself into this whole review blogging thing, but for now, it’s not my priority.

Those of you who drop by for the giveaways may have noticed that my extra entry options don’t include things like subscribing to my RSS feed or emails. That’s because, while I welcome every person who drops by here (need you, in fact!), I don’t want anyone subscribing to my feed for any reason other than that they want to read what I write. If you’re subscribing just for the giveaways, I’m cool with that, but you may end up disappointed. This blog isn’t just about that. It’s not a “review” blog. It’s a personal blog. I love giveaways, so you’ll always find those here. But I love a lot of things more than giveaways, and you’ll find them here, too, and more often.

I hope each one of you will subscribe to my feed and follow me for as long as you can stand me! I just wanted to explain where I’m headed with this blog. I want to grow my blog organically, or not at all. I wouldn’t mind having paid ads more often, and I’d love to have a huge readership, but I don’t want to gain those things by running my blog as a business.  I’m not a real mom-blogger (NTTAWWT). I’m just a chick with an internet connection and more things to say than people to say them to!

I hope those of you who are annoyed by product reviews will stick around anyway, since I will always try to balance the PR stuff with the actual writing. The real writing is where my heart is, and I can’t make it work without someone looking at it!
